Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic Still Has Dreams About Kurt Cobain

-Krist Novoselic shares an interesting phenomena going on in his brain. Twenty years after the death of Kurt Cobain, Novoselic still dreams of his deceased bandmate.

Speaking to the Young Turks, Krist Novoselic spoke about his dreams of Cobain while reminiscing about the Nirvana frontman. “I think, looking back, I was just confused," Novoselic begins. "It took me a lot of years to work through that, I tried to do the best I could. We were at our best when we were playing. We liked to rehearse, we liked to make songs, and play together. That’s what we did best, that’s when we were happy. I have dreams about Kurt. I’m so happy to see him in a dream, like, ‘Oh my god, it’s so good to see you.’ Then we’re always like, ‘Okay, let’s go play.' We’re always going to go play music, so there’s some kind of connection there, which is good. That’s what it’s all about.”

-Speaking of Nirvana members, Novoselic also spoke about how Dave Grohl came to join the band. "It was in North Beach up in San Francisco, and Buzz [Osborne, the Melvins] was like, ‘Hey, Scream is playing.’ [We were like], ‘Oh, we love Scream.’ It was a seminal punk rock band out of Washington D.C., and they had this drummer who was really good, and played this really big drum set."

Novoselic continues, "I met him briefly, and we talked to Buzz, ‘Wow, what a cool drummer.’ Then Kurt and I drove up the 101, I think we found a cat, we stopped somewhere in the Oregon Coast.

Then we got a call from Buzz, ‘Hey man, Scream went down to L.A. after San Francisco, and their bass player split, and they’re just broke at the singer’s sister’s house.’ She was a stripper, and she owed money on rent, so then the landlord came and took the front door off the house. So Dave was stuck in L.A., and he got enough money to get a plane ticket and his drum set, and he came up and started playing with us. We were hooked, it gelled right away.” [via Alternative Nation]
